It is also the principal referral hospital for the Loddon Mallee region. General and emergency dental services are provided for eligible clients at community dental clinics.

Box Hill Hospital has inpatient beds, operating theatres and an emergency department. The hospital provides a wide range of healthcare services including: emergency care, general and specialist medicine, intensive care, mental health services for children, adolescents and adults, maternity services, post-acute care programs, surgery, teaching and research. Box Hill is also a university teaching hospital affiliated with Monash, La Trobe and Deakin Universities.
