Clinicians performing surgery

Health services will be better able to monitor performance and track how activity at their service varies between different time periods following the launch of a suite of new features for VAHI’s Planned Surgery Monitoring Dashboard (PSMD).

The PSMD has quickly become the most used VAHI report or dashboard, being accessed over 1,500 times between launching on 20 February 2023 and 1 June 2023, with use high across both metropolitan and regional health services.

New features have been added following feedback from health services and key departmental stakeholders. The PSMD now includes all performance measures relating to planned surgery, allowing health services to access more timely information that aligns with regular performance reporting via the Monitor report.

Year-to-date and period views for activity measures are also now available by month and quarter, helping performance leads better understand variation in activity and performance against agreed Statement of Priorities targets.

Other changes include refreshed peer groupings and enhanced filtering by surgical speciality.

The new features will provide further valuable insights for health services and support improved access to timely surgery for Victorian patients. VAHI will continue to engage with stakeholders to inform future releases.

The Planned Surgery Monitoring Dashboard is available for authenticated users on the VAHI portal. The VAHI portal can be accessed at www.vahi.vic.gov.au. Questions or requests for access can be directed to [email protected]
