VAHI’s responsibilities in relation to data management, standards and privacy are as follows:
- Design, development and implementation of detailed technical specifications (metadata) for key performance measures that VAHI reports to health services and the public. This supports VAHI's obligations for transparency and accuracy of reporting.
- Design, development and implementation of a data governance framework, policies and procedures including approaches to privacy, confidentiality and security.
- Managing access to data from key health services datasets by researchers, health services and non-government organisations while ensuring compliance with legislation and public policy. The key health service datasets are:
- Supporting greater and wider access to data (data liberalisation), using approaches designed to promote accessibility and improve timeliness of response, in ways that drive improvements in health and care.
